There was a recent posting on Facebook about the “One Side” Chardonnay from Pilot Knob, made with 100% Chardonnay from Robert Clay Vineyards. The picture and comments concerned me, especially since I’ve never been a big fan of Chardonnay. Since I wasn’t really sure how to respond, I decided to open a bottle myself and compare with several White Wine color charts that I found online. To my pleasant surprise, what I found was that both the color and clarity matched every example photo I found of a medium/full bodied Chardonnay. Whew!
1. Vinho Verde / Pinot Gris, 2. Sauvignon Blanc, 3. Marsanne / Chenin Blanc / Viognier, 4. Chardonnay, 5. Old White Wine, 6. Sherry
My eye’s place the color at a 4 or maybe somewhere between a 3 & 4. And the clarity is exceptional! (the iPhone photo and my lighting doesn’t do it justice)
What do you think?
