Sandstone Cellars Winery, a local, boutique winery on the square in Mason, Texas, has been producing highly acclaimed, award winning wines since 2004. The winery was included in the 7th edition of Robert Parker’s Wine Buyers Guide, Russ Kane’s The Wineslinger Chronicles, and Chef Terry Thompson-Anderson’s The Texas Hill Country: A Food and Wine Lover’s Paradise. Its wines have received awards from the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the HLSR International Wine Competition. Many noted wine professionals, like “Food and Wine” magazine’s executive wine editor Ray Isle and Master Sommelier Drew Hendricks, have selected Sandstone Cellars’ wines for particular attention and Sandstone Cellars wines are included in prestigious restaurants’ wine lists.
Many of the wines have included Robert Clay Vineyards grapes and, in particular, winemaker Don Pullum has become enamored with our Touriga. He uses our Touriga to add structure, spice, and savoriness to the Sandstone Cellars wines. Ignoring traditional blending combinations, our Touriga may be blended with a host of other grape varieties like Syrah, Mourvedre, Barbera, Tempranillo, and Nebbiolo. Don and Sandstone Cellars owners, Scott Haupert and Manny Silerio, found that the 2009 vintage of our Touriga to be a perfectly complete wine and produced the Sandstone Cellars 2009 VII, 100% Touriga. It received national attention.
